If the baby can’t sit up on his own, can I wean him?

DS was very supported in his highchair (Tripp Trapp), which held him upright, and was sitting alone for only a few seconds before falling over on the floor. Sitting upright is one of the signals that they are ready for weaning, but they do not necessarily need to sit alone exactly.
